Known Device Issues

Known device issues in OctoStudio

We are continuing to work on OctoStudio, including tracking known issues with specific manufacturers' devices and operating systems.

You can also find support tips in the Help if your app isn't working well article. If you are having app issues, we would love to hear more via our Feedback form.

Android

Purple screen with a "Help me fix this" button on Android

If you see a purple screen (with a "Help me fix this" button) when first opening the app, the Android System WebView on your device will need to be updated. OctoStudio requires Android System WebView of 88.x.xxxx.xx and above.
Try thisOn your device, try to update Android System WebView using the following link, and then close and re-open OctoStudio. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.webview If you aren’t able to update WebView or you still see the purple screen, check if you are able to update to a newer OS version on your device, then try to update your WebView as described above.

Sound not working on Samsung Galaxy A32

Due to a previous issue with Samsung Galaxy A32 devices, Play Sound blocks and in-app sounds would not play. A recent Samsung Update has fixed this issue. Check if you can install any System Updates on your device, to see if this fixes the issue for you.
Try thisIf you aren't able to update your device, try connecting to Bluetooth headphones before running OctoStudio. Also, Speak block is not affected by this issue, and might help with replacing some sounds for now (eg Speak "Woof")

Colors not displaying correctly in Dark Mode on Xiaomi devices

A known issue with Dark Mode on some Xiaomi devices may cause colors in OctoStudio and other apps to be displayed incorrectly.
Try thisIn your Xiaomi device Settings, under Display > Dark Mode > More Dark Mode Options, turn off Dark Mode for OctoStudio, under the 'Individual Apps' listed. If that option is not available, you can switch off Dark Mode on your device when using OctoStudio.

Speak block not working on Android

If Speak block is not speaking when OctoStudio project runs, your device’s text-to-speech (TTS) engine might not include the language being used.
Try thisIn your device’s TTS settings, select "Google Speech Recognition and Synthesis" as your Preferred Engine (you may need to download this from the Play Store), and reboot your device. Alternatively, check the TTS settings on your device to make sure it’s up to date, and has the necessary language downloaded.

iOS

Speak block not working in video recordings for iOS 17 devices

Previously, there was an issue on iOS 17 devices which caused Speak block to not work in OctoStudio Video Recordings. A change was made in version 1.0.31 of the app to work around this issue.
Try thisIdeally, update to the latest version of OctoStudio (at least version 1.0.31) to fix this issue. If you're not able to update the app, you might try out the Say block instead, or recording your own voice in the Play Sound block! Or you may also be able to use the built-in screen recording feature on your device instead

Glow and Color blocks not working in video and GIF recordings for iOS 17 devices

In an earlier version of iOS 17 Glow, Set Color and Change Color blocks may not be working in OctoStudio Video/GIF Recordings created with the app. Updating to the latest iOS should fix the issue.
Try thisCheck if you are able to update to a newer iOS version on your device, which should fix this issue.
